NATO has officially banned employees from TikTok

NATO has banned employees from downloading the TikTok app, which may be considered spyware. Therefore, all precautions in this regard have been taken and such steps have been taken for safety. The ban was introduced on Friday morning, March 31, 2023. The ban notice is basically only official, TikTok has not been used by NATO workers before.

NATO is the first government body to ban the app. This is due to concerns that the Chinese government may have access to all sensitive data of application users, using the parent Chinese company Bytedance. So far, e.g. the European and American parliaments also banned the TikTok app.

Show Chew, who is the app's CEO, says there is no evidence that the app has ties to Beijing and collects data. He assured that it is completely independent of the Chinese authorities, and all data from TikTok in the USA is stored by the American company Oracle.
